Quick Fire Q&A with Darcy Jones

Wednesday, November 23, 2022 - 11:42 AM by Mark Readings

A standout NAB AFL Draft Combine from Darcy Jones could confirm his place on an AFL list at next week’s Draft.

The Swan Districts midfielder has advanced from Colts to League level with aplomb, and in 2022 he enhanced his Draft prospects with a stunning effort at the NAB AFL Under 18 National Championships.

In one final reminder of his athletic prowess, Jones ran 7.70 seconds in the agility test at the NAB AFL Draft Combine, eclipsing the previous Combine record set by former Fremantle Docker Stephen Hill of 7.77 seconds fourteen years ago.

At just 175 centimetres, Jones has long been labelled “too small”, but his skill and speed make him a tempting selection for many clubs.

We spent some time with Jones to discuss his AFL Draft journey, why he wears a helmet, and his childhood footy idol.
