Ken Wyatt Joins Swans Board
Former Australian federal government minister Ken Wyatt has agreed to join the Swan Districts Football Club Board of Directors.
Wyatt, the previous Member for Hasluck, which comprised most of Swans metropolitan zone, had been the Minister for Indigenous Health, Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care, and Minister for Indigenous Australians. He was the first Indigenous Australian elected to the House of Representatives, the first to serve as a government minister, and the first appointed to cabinet.
Club President Peter Hodyl was delighted at the Board’s appointment. “Ken has been a strong supporter of Swan Districts over many years. He brings an enormous wealth of experience and expertise to our Board, especially in governance and community engagement.”
Wyatt has been a co-Patron for the club for the past 8 years. He understands and stalwartly supports the club’s strategic direction to be a well-connected and community driven high performing club creating positive impact.
“I’ve been very impressed with the club’s transformation from a traditional football club to a broad community enabler. This helps safeguard the club’s long and rich history, which we’re all so proud of.”
Swans has an increasing number of community outreach programs in partnership with schools and communities throughout Perth and the Pilbara. It’s an integral part of the club’s business model and helps drive brand relevance through community connection.
Following the recent Board election where Andy Holmes was re-elected, Wyatt has accepted one of two Board appointed positions on a three year term.
