Swan Districts Football Club is delighted to announce Andrew Pruyn as its new Senior WAFL Coach.

The club recently completed the recruitment process for a new Senior Coach and received interest from many high calibre applicants.

The aim was to recruit a person with the ability to be the cornerstone of an enduring and sustainable high performing football department.

“We’re very confident Andrew can build a strong culture among the senior squad including our senior and emerging players, coaches and support staff”, said Swans President Peter Hodyl.

“We know Andrew’s a committed Swans man. He’s been at the club in various roles for over 20 years. He’s focussed and determined, and is the ideal person for our club in this role at this point in time”.

Pruyn is expected to build on the achievements made over the first three years of the club’s five year Football Strategic Plan 2020 – 2024.

The key attributes the club looked for in its new coach were the ability to build strong relationships, create a deep connection with its talent program, and deliver on field success.

Pruyn, a successful businessman in the Swan Valley, was the Senior Assistant League Coach at Swans for the past three seasons and also in 2016 and 2017 under Greg Harding. He was the club’s Reserves coach in 2013 – 2015 and previously played for the club over a six year period including under club legend John Todd.

“I’m really excited at the opportunity. We’ve got a terrific group of players and a strong club structure. I plan to get as many past players as possible back involved with the club to help build on the legacy left from those who have been before us”, says Pruyn.

Peter Hodyl reinforced the club’s steadfast commitment with its on field and off field strategic plans which are future proofing the club’s long and rich heritage.

“We’re continuing to build a robust business model built on building community and developing people”, he said.

Pruyn has signed for a two year term.
