Jesse Turner Appointed Captain for the 2025 WAFL Season

There is no other player as fitting as Jesse Turner to take the top role in the WAFL Men’s League team this season. With 156 games and 11 seasons at Swan Districts under his belt, Jesse is determined to continue what the team has built in the previous seasons.
“To be reappointed as the captain this season is something I treat with a huge amount of responsibility, as well as feeling very prideful with the opportunity I've been given. To have my teammates, coaches, support staff and the board of the Swan Districts Football Club agree on me being the leader of this club means a lot and something I don't take for granted” Jesse Turner.
Turner brings a wealth of knowledge into the coming season, looking forward to working with the team.
“I look forward to working with our leadership group, who make my job 100 times easier with how much they sacrifice and lead in their own way to help this football club get to where we want to be.”
“I care deeply of all my teammates and look to help them wherever and however I can. Most of all I feel I'm someone who leads from the front. I very much try to set the example with how I train, prepare, recover and how I present myself too others.”
“Over the years I've been able to learn a lot off Brandon Erceg who's been the leader of this team for the last few years and has done a great job work the playing group.”
Turner has success at the front of his mind. Having finished in the top 3 in 2024, the 2025 captain is looking to bring home the premiership this year.
“As a senior group, we look at continuing to build from what we achieved in 2024. In our Reserves side, we want to get back inside the finals after a disappointing season last season, especially after winning the grand final in 2023”,
“This year we want to go a step further and make it to the last game of the season. The boys are extremely motivated and we can't wait to be back out there playing in 2025”.
The 2025 Colts will be captained by Harley Cummings, with Soren Feast and Liam Hrabar being appointed as vice-captains.
The Swan Districts 2025 WAFL Men’s season kicks off at 2:30pm Saturday 5th April, here at Steel Blue Oval against West Perth.
