Jack Hickling inducted into the Swans Hall of Fame
Jack Hickling is the fourth of six inductees into the Swan Districts Football Club’s Hall of Fame in 2025 joining Mike Richardson, Cyril Litterick and Josh Roberts.
The Swans Hall of Fame selection criteria requires at least one administrator or volunteer to be inducted for every 10 other nominees across successive ceremonies. Hickling falls into this category on the back of Richard (Dick) Alexander McDonald in 2023.
Hickling was the trainer and masseur for Swans for 49 years, starting in 1954. Even after he stepped aside as Head Trainer many players continued to seek him out for treatment at his house.
Hickling was awarded club Life Membership in 1985 and won the club’s Joe Pearce Courage Award in 2003. He was Trainer of the Century in Swans Team of the Century.
The trainer’s room in the WAFL Men’s changeroom is named the Jack Hickling Room in his honour. The Jack Hickling Trainers Award was also started in 2003 in recognition of his long service to the club.
Along with club Immortal Bill Walker, Hickling shares the distinction of being the only two people who were involved in the club’s first seven Premierships.
The remaining three Hall of Fame 2025 inductees will be announced over the next couple of months.
These will be officially recognised at the Swan Districts Hall of Fame Induction evening to be held at the club on Saturday 26th July 2025. It’s a wonderful opportunity for supporters to meet Swans royalty in person.
Tickets cost $120 and includes dinner and complimentary drinks on arrival. Tickets can be purchased here.
