All Abilities Team Wraps Up a Season of Growth and Determination
The 2025 season was one of development, resilience, and pride for the Swan Districts All-Abilities team, both on and off the field. While wins were hard-fought and sometimes out of reach, the spirit of the team never wavered.
“This year was another successful one for the All-Abilities team,” said head coach Leigh Farrow. “We welcomed 10 new players and celebrated five reaching 50 games for Swans. While on-field results didn’t always go our way, our team spirit and willingness to have a go, and include all players, continued to thrive.”
Adding to the season’s evolution was the introduction of a six-week pre-season boot camp, led by Cass and Sonia from Fitness Next, which laid the foundation for stronger relationships and skill development.
“It was a great way for players to refine their skills and build strong team relationships,” Disability and Inclusion Coordinator Jorja explained.
“Bringing new players into the group in a more relaxed setting helped with team cohesion. Although the season didn’t go the way we anticipated, the group continued to show up, support each other, and demonstrate real resilience.”
Being in the A division for a second year in a row meant the stakes were high.
“That meant no game was going to be easy, and every match demanded our very best,” said team manager Laura Noonan.
“We had some strong wins and a few nail-biting finishes, but one thing I can say with absolute certainty is that this team never gave up.”
Laura also reflected on the deeper progress made throughout the season.
“Over the year, I’ve witnessed incredible growth, not just in playing ability, but also in maturity, inclusiveness, positivity, and resilience. The players should be immensely proud of how they handled themselves throughout the season. Their determination has not only made us stronger but has also fueled our hunger for even greater success next year.”
With the 2025 regular season now behind them, the All-Abilities team look forward to celebrating the year at the Maurice Embley Awards Night, Friday 5th September. Tickets can be purchased here for the evening.
