VSwans Thanks Newman
VSwans East Pilbara held two events on Tuesday the 13th of February to help raise funds for the Kicking and Shooting Goals programs.
The funds raised at the events subsidise the cost of the incentive trips and rewards that the students in the programs earn by:
• Showing good behaviours in classes,
• Wearing correct uniform to all Kicking and Shooting Goals classes,
• High Attendance at School and
• Volunteering in the community.
The events coincided with a visit to Newman by West Coast Eagles (WCE) stars Nic Naitanui, Sam Butler and Luke Partington, all three got involved in both events. We would like to thank Nic, Sam and Luke for their efforts and WCE for their support of the fundraisers.
The Kids Corner @ The Square Event saw The Square transformed into a football and netball activity centre, as kids had a go at both codes. The players also signed posters, posed for photos and got involved in the activities with the kids. Our Kicking and Shooting Goals students were also on hand to help with the activities, as well as sell raffle tickets and drinks.
The Kicking Goals and Shooting Goals Annual Fundraiser was held later that night at the Newman Hotel, with over 100 tickets sold for the event. The crowd had the chance to meet and greet the WCE players, as well as ask questions and hear tales about the highs and lows of life as an AFL Footballer. There was also a silent auction, with signed jumpers, balls and posters all being snapped up.
Both events were well supported by the Newman Community, and this helped to make the fundraising events a huge success.
A big thank you to the following local organisations for their support of the events:
• Shire of East Pilbara
• Newman Hotel
• Newman Vets Football Club
• Woolworths Newman
• Home Hardware Newman
• SportsPower Newman
• Boulevard Pharmacy
• Newman Visitor Centre
• Retravision
VSwans would also like to thank Major Partner BHP, and Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet for their ongoing support of the Kicking and Shooting Goals programs.
